End of Jam Update (Neokyo City)
Hello humans!
Neokyo City, a game made initially for the Amaze Me Game Jam, has gotten a major update! I have been working on the game ever since voting for the jam was complete and, since it seems like the jam winners have been picked, I have decided to finally release an "End Of Jam" update. During the jam, I worked very hard but couldn't reach the initial goals I had set for myself. This update hopes to bridge closer to that vision that I had for the game. If you are reading this, I hope you give the game a try, and if you also made something for a jam and didn't progress as far as you wanted, I encourage you to push on!
I am now going to list some of the major changes I made that are different from the jam version of the game:
- Drones now use basic pathfinding to patrol areas and search for the player, and proper raycasting for player detection.
- Different gases now flow through each pipe and drones charging on a connected port will acquire a new laser based on the gas.
- Upgrade coins exist, giving the player a new ability that will help them traverse or protect themselves.
- Quest system that allows for a main quest line and infinite side quests, along with quest rewards.
- 2 quest types: Fetch, Hack.
- Final quest, and end game state.
- SFXs and Music, along with a chase theme that plays while spotted.
- 3D audio certain sounds.
- Signs, with building names, etc.
- Some secrets to find.
- The fastest completion time gets saved to a file.
- Startup menus that allow you to configure the game.
- Pause menu with controls.
- More visible text.
- Particles.
- Poles to jump on, as well as drones.
- Transition when getting teleported to the prison, as well as a prison that turns back on when you get sent there.
- Better controller support.
- Better everything.
- Much more!
